Nice interesting piece of wood taken from a Scrumpy Apple tree, bit cracked, bit Burly, bit of everything really. Cracks ground out and filled with used ground coffee beans (makes a change from resin!)
For those interested the log had already been part dried for about 3 weeks in my low temperature drying kiln, final drying was done in the microwave at intervals of 1 min on full power and left to cool in the workshop between cycles, final drying only took about a day, and then it was left in the house for a week to meet its equilibrium moisture content before continuing, although the wood still warped slightly, hence truing the base and sides up again.
Used Coffee is just normal ground beans, dried in an oven after use. Glue is just cheap superglue, I have found this to be the best for most jobs when filling cracks etc as its very thin, and normally buy it in bulk..
