With temperatures reaching 38°C in southern England, this wood pigeon appeared to discover the perfect place to escape the heat: beneath the spray of a garden bird bath fountain.

Captured in my garden during the June heatwave, the pigeon spent several minutes standing under the flowing water, looking remarkably as though it was enjoying an outdoor shower.
