groove& was part of the WOMEX 22 official Showcase Selection. They are a three-woman percussion ensemble trailblazing what they call new dimension Gugak sounds. Gugak is an umbrella term covering all great Korean national music and dance traditions from court music or folk song, to shamanistic ritual or theatre, and groove& are at the forefront of a new generation of Korean musicians fusing multiple aspects of these traditions with a contemporary urban consciousness. For the second time WOMEX teams up with the independent filmmaker and sound explorer Vincent Moon. WOMEX by MOON 2022 is a collection of 4 short films shot during the 28th edition of WOMEX, in Lisbon, Portugal, between the 19 and 23 of October 2022.
