Women in Afghanistan today have fewer rights than shop mannequins. Banned from places like gyms and public parks, secondary and higher education and the workplace, and now from being seen through a window into a residential space. They are only allowed outside in full veil with a male chaperone for an urgent reason, and cannot be heard to speak even for prayer. The Taliban do not consider women to be people, and their treatment of those women as less than second class citizens is a clear violation of international human rights law. And yet, it goes on.
