This smooth-talking budgie named Mr Darcy has 'fallen in love' with a plastic bird - being caught on camera staring into the toy's eyes and declaring it is 'gorgeous' repeatedly.

Footage of Nancy Laverge's three-year-old 'flirty' budgie shows it repeatedly calling one of his life-sized toys 'pretty and gorgeous' as he appears to try to woo the 'lady'.

Mr Darcy lives up to his Pride and Prejudice character namesake as he plants kisses on his 'girlfriend's' cheek and then coins his own bizarre compliment to call it 'lovely broccoli'.
