BROOKHAVEN, Ga. - A violent attack was caught on camera when a man beat a woman to the ground at a Brookhaven gas station Tuesday. Police said the attack was random.
The victim came in contact with the suspect just moments before, inside Shell Gas Station on Buford Highway.
"When I think I heard everything, something even worse occurs," customer Mike Gresham said.
Idrissa Mansaray, 36, was charged with assault and battery.
"We got a dangerous individual off the street," said Detective Corey Van Alen, with Brookhaven Police Department.
On Tuesday afternoon, police said the victim was in line to check out at the gas station when Mansaray cut in front of her. Police said she let him go ahead of her.
Moments later, as the woman exited the store, Mansaray attacked her, punching her in the face and choking her neck.
Police said he even tried to burn her with his lighter. The woman eventually was able to fight him off.
"He ended up taking off on foot across the street and disappearing behind an office building," Alen said.
He didn't know is the victim's husband would be studying the surveillance video closely.
The next day, the victim's husband saw Mansaray at the Family Dollar nearby.
"He ended up calling 911. Our patrol officers immediately responded to the area and took the subject in custody," Alen said.
