A woman is in custody after an hourslong standoff Thursday morning ended with the death of a man, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said. Sgt. Edward Igoe, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, said they got a call from a person who said that a woman had shot the caller's father. Deputies then responded to the home on Fredric Avenue, near South Watt Avenue and Kiefer Boulevard. As deputies arrived, Igoe said a woman had come out of the house, armed with a firearm. She set the weapon down and went back inside, barricading herself.
