We snorkeled the W.L. Wetmore and the John Walters shipwrecks in the Fathom Five National Marine Park, Tobermory, ON.
The W.L. Wetmore steamer is 65.1 m (213.7 ft) long and located at a depth of 7 m (24 ft). It was wrecked during a storm in November 1901. Look for the impressive boiler, anchor, chain, and rudder. There are interesting bedrock features and a large amount of timber around the wreck.
The John Walters two-masted schooner is 32.9 m (108 ft) long and located at a depth of 5 m (16 ft). It was wrecked in November 1883. Unfortunately, only limited wreckage remains.
We saw tons of smallmouth bass, gobies, and crayfish.
