Huntsville, Alabama's first all rock and roll FM radio station began in October 1990 and ended in March 1991. The former "Boogie 93" moved their transmitter sight to Elora, TN and were able to reach Huntsville on 93.3 FM. As the station began moving up the ratings charts, a local competitor began leasing 20 hours of air time a day and did away with rock and roll music. This infuriated Huntsville rock fans and the person responsible became the most hated man in Huntsville as you will gather from reading the newspaper clippings I've included. In addition to some of the on air clips you will also hear the "construction noise" loop that aired for 3 or 4 days until the station changed its call letters and started playing country. Huntsville would finally get a permanent rock station on FM when WTAK began transmitting on 106.1 in the year 1993. All of the recordings you hear in this video are from early 1991.
