On March 29, 1967, while recording overdubs for other iconic songs, The Beatles set to work recording and finishing a song from their back catalog.

At that stage, the song was still known as “Bad Finger Boogie” and was being developed as the direct transition from the album's title track.
Take 10 was the best of the initial rhythm takes and features Ringo Starr on drums, Paul McCartney on piano (while singing), John Lennon on rhythm guitar, George Harrison on tambourine, Mal Evans on cowbell, and George Martin on organ.

Sound effects were added later, along with four extra organs played by each Beatle, a percussive bass sound typical of the mid-60s and rich in melody, an additional guitar, more percussion (timpani, tambourines and snare drums), and, of course, Ringo's lead vocals and backing vocals by the remaining Beatles.
