The 241-acre Bennett farm has excelled as serving as a demonstration site for landowners for over a decade and a learning site for children since 2020. A Blackland prairie classroom focused with outdoor play and education for 4- and 5-year-olds has excelled at keeping their doors open and children engaged. Originally moving down to be closer to his in laws Mr. Bennett embraced the rural lifestyle. He joined TPWD’s Jay Whiteside and surrounding landowners in the Western Navarro Bobwhite Recovery Initiative. Re seeding efforts, prescribed fires, brush control, and landowner field days over the last 10 years have proven fruitful. This engagement of the community, both children and adults, and habitat management has grown the impact of the ranch beyond its 200+ acres.
