If you are looking for an adventure in the snow with an emphasis on nature, wildlife and scenery, Tupper Lake, New York has one of the top attractions in the Adirondacks. The Wild Center, the interactive natural history museum and science center in Tupper Lake, used to get most of its visitors in the summer. For the past few years now, however, tourists and Adirondack residents have discovered the joy of exploring the campus during the winter. The Wild Walk is one of the major attractions the center offers during the colder months and all year long.
Marketing Director Nick Gunn of the Wild Center chatted with Paul Larson about the Wild Walk, which takes visitors 40 feet off the ground, and Wild Lights, where thousands of twinkling lights keep the snow-covered woods colorful for many weeks beyond the holiday season.
Even when Wild Lights wraps up on February 21st, activities such as the Wild Walk, snowshoeing, kick sledding, and ice fishing will continue while conditions remain cold.
