Knox County School officials on Tuesday evening explained the reasoning behind another day's school cancelation against an appropriate background: the slushy parking lot of Powell High School.
Knox County Schools was one of several East Tennessee districts opting to cancel classes Jan. 24 as the region continues to dig out from the ice and snow left by last week's winter storms.
As of Tuesday evening, Knox County Schools had cleared about two-thirds of its campuses, but the remaining third still needed more work because of icy pavement, Assistant Superintendent of Operations Dr. Garfield Adams said.
