Former CDS Anil Chauhan details the operational strategy and aftermath of Operation Sindoor, he said, 'Politics and war are inseparable. A nation's political interests are paramount and supreme and armed forces are one of the instruments to protect it. It is twofold: Firstly, to provide options to the government for the application of that particular force so that it can achieve its objectives. And second, it is to provide some kind of confidence to the government. So the government can have as many options as it desires, provided it has spent that much amount of money during peacetime to develop its capabilities.'

He added that, 'one of the couple of principles which we thought in the escalation matrix which we laid for ourselves was that the last strike or the winning note will always be delivered by us and not by the Pakistanis.'
