Wine 11 has been officially released, delivering major performance, graphics, and compatibility improvements for running Windows applications and games on Linux and other Unix-like operating systems.
This release introduces NTSync driver support for faster synchronization, Vulkan-based H.264 video decoding, clipboard support for Wayland, and initial Vulkan video decoder support in WineD3D. Wine 11 also adds DXIL shader support, early geometry shader support in the HLSL compiler, and updated Direct3D 12 (VKD3D) implementation on Vulkan, making it a significant upgrade for Linux gamers.
Additional enhancements include improved ARM64 performance, dynamic WoW64 mode, better Bluetooth and printing support, improved Battle.net launcher compatibility, new cryptographic features, EGL enabled by default for OpenGL, and several system-level optimizations.
