Windows 11 isn't exactly winning hearts and minds. Between the forced upgrade, forced AI integration, and a lot of botched updates, Microsoft has a real problem. But apparently, they've come to realize that, and they say they're going to do something about it.

The next major update for Windows 11 will, according to a Microsoft VP, scale back the forced Copilot integration, make the widgets less annoying, focus on performance and reliability, and even add features that users have been wanting for years, like finally bringing back the option to put the taskbar on top. Microsoft is even soliciting feedback on what users want, which is always a good sign. cam

One thing that's pointedly not in the big memo is the ability to log in without an online Microsoft account. Another VP said that either he or Microsoft is, quote, "Working on it," but we don't know exactly what that means. And yes, I asked.

This is all encouraging, but so far it's a bunch of promises. The proof will be in the pudding, and naturally we'll be taking an even closer look than normal at the "new" Windows 11 when it arrives, presumably later this year. You can see a breakdown of all the proposed changes over at PCWorld.
