Running Windows games on Mac has always been possible, but it usually means dealing with Wine, Whisky, Parallels Desktop, CrossOver, Rosetta, Homebrew, DXVK, MoltenVK, Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit, Steam issues, broken installs, terminal commands, and a lot of troubleshooting.
So I built Bourbon26.
Bourbon26 is a Mac app designed to make running Windows Steam games on macOS easier. It detects and installs the tools you need, sets up the Wine environment, supports Steam, includes cloud gaming launchers, and gives you a simple way to manually launch Windows EXE games with D3DMetal/Game Porting Toolkit support.
In this video, I walk through the full setup flow, show Steam running on Mac through Bourbon26, install and launch a Windows game, and explain why I built this as a simpler alternative to manually configuring Wine-based gaming setups.
Bourbon26 is currently focused on Steam, with more game stores like Epic Games planned soon.

Important note: Not every Windows game will work. Games with kernel-level anti-cheat, aggressive DRM, unsupported launchers, or unusual dependencies may still have issues. Bourbon26 is designed to make setup and maintenance easier, not magically guarantee every game works on every Mac.
