2 machines were used for this test and both were configured with dynamic VHD disks of 125 GB size, 2048 MB RAM, 3d, 2d accelerated graphics with 256 MB memory in Virtualbox. Single processor machines were used.
It is clear that Microsoft has put in a lot of effort to make the setup much faster compared to Windows 7. Comparing that to Vista and XP, Windows 8 is the best setup experience ever. It's perfectly streamlined, very few things to decide for the user and resembles other tablet operating system user setups when the OS installation is done.
