This video shows what SpeedTree v6.2's new Wind Wizard does on the Coconut Palm model in our library. Shown here is the direct result, you're free to tune the animation as you see fit after the wizard executes.

This example depicts a reasonable high resolution model. The Wind Wizard also works on real-time models as well as broadleaves, conifers, bushes, etc.
