Some fans have been calling this “Engage the Counterattack” or Counter the Enemy since it seems to have a similar use to “Engage the Enemy” from the Xenoblade 1 and “Counterattack” from Xenoblade 2 (and it references both). The trailer has more information about the battle system, Ouroboros fusions. I can’t believe the game is coming this July! Ill update the video title whenever the song gets an official title.
Update: The full version of this song is called The Weight of Life (or 命を背負って / Carrying a Life in Japanese)!

At the time I posted this, I didnt know the official title of this theme, so I called it the Main Theme of SBR. Its the theme we heard in the trailer, and I thought it might technically be Johnnys or Gyros theme. Since then, a lovely commenter, @gksn8790, let me know that the official title of this song is Dance with STEEL BALL RUN, which was revealed in a Japanese exclusive vinyl that comes with JoJo Magazine. I love that title so much, and it really matches the energy of the track!
YUGO KANNO HAS DONE IT AGAIN!! (Long description warning LOL, I have a lot to say.)
Less than 2 weeks until the Steel Ball Run anime drops!!! I am beyond excited! I have been waiting for this moment for 7 years, and I can’t believe it’s almost here. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is my favorite anime and manga series. I started with the anime and caught up while Part 5: Golden Wind/Vento Aureo was airing back in 2019. From the moment the Part 5 anime ended, I started reading the manga, and I haven’t stopped since. Yes, that means I’m caught up on Part 9: JoJoLands! (There are dozens of us... DOZENS!)
I have loved each and every JJBA part, but when I read SBR, I was like, “Oh, this is GOOD good” - it instantly became my favorite part. What an incredible story full of so many complex characters. There’s a reason it’s rated #2 manga of all time on the My Anime List roster! I really loved following Johnny and Gyro’s journey, and I can’t wait to see it fully animated. David Production hasn’t let us down yet, so I’m really looking forward to it! The trailers looked excellent!
I took all of these screenshots from the various trailers and promotional material available so far. At this point, we’ve seen Johnny Joestar, Gyro Zeppeli, Diego Brando, Sandman, Pocoloco, Steven Steel, and Lucy Steel. These 7 are excellent characters who will get us started on this cross-country race; however, there are so many more characters and storylines to come, and I can’t wait for JoJo anime watchers to meet them all! (Also I peeped a flash of Hot Pants in the poster, but still waiting for the full design to be released…). Also Slow Dancer, Valkyrie, Silver Bullet, and Hey! Ya! look so cute!
For those who are unfamiliar, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run is about a horse race across the United States of America in 1890. The first racer to make it from San Diego, California to New York City wins $50 million USD. Participants come from all across the world with many different motives. The story mostly follows the two protagonists, Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli, as they make their way across the country and face many adversaries to reach their goal. You’ll have to watch the rest to find out where the story goes. :)
Now, on to the music! My first ever cover on this channel was actually a medley of the first 5 JoJos’ themes, so I feel like I’m coming full circle with this project. This is one of the most difficult arrangements I have made so far, and it took me a while to suss things out and record this. There’s a lot going on in this track, and it was hard to hear some parts due to the lack of official OST. MAJOR shoutout to @YayaOrchestra on YouTube for making the cleanest and best quality version of this track I could find - hopefully that helped minimize any potential mistakes in my arrangement. Trying to emulate the saxophone solos was the hardest part for me, but I think we got there. I dont have any sheet music at this point, but if people are very interested, I can try to do my best to make them.
This track has that Yugo Kanno magic throughout, and it really has that JoJo feel I’m always looking for in a main theme. The chorus is what originally made me consider covering this theme, but the part at 3:15 is what forced my hand. I’m obsessed with that little section, especially the horns and vocals in the original. The Enrico Morricone cowboy vibes are absolutely on point, and I hope we get more of this throughout the part. It would be perfect for the western setting!
