Recently a friend of mine was talking about her desire to film a recreation video of footage of Winchester from 1964 (youtube.com/watch?v=I23n-EMRf9k), but she never got around to it. So of course I stole the idea for my own nefarious purposes.
I aimed to recreate it as best as I could, however it was difficult in some regards. Shops have obviously moved or been replaced, people get in the way of the camera, it's difficult to redo exact shots, and for some stuff I just couldn't work out whereabouts on the high street it was. However, I think this is a pretty decent job, 4:3 aspect ratio and all.
It was surprising to me how little the main town had changed in over fifty years, with the biggest difference being the high street was actually a street. If you're a Winchesterian then I hope you enjoy this little walk through the past - if you're not then I hope you think it's pretty neat regardless.
