Our generation of cyclists will likely be the last to experience shifting our gears via a Bowden Cable, a steel cable in a spiral wound sheath via mechanical ratchets, cams and derailleurs. Once upon a time we stopped our bikes with steel rods, in the future we use hydraulics and electronics. When will that transition in technology take place?
