Speaking with Collider while promoting The Dog Stars, Brolin was asked point blank if he thinks Thanos is truly "dead-dead" or could make a comeback. He replied, "I don't know how to answer that question," before pivoting into a broader reflection on Thanos's worldview, admitting he's started to wonder if the villain's reasoning about culling half the universe wasn't entirely wrong given the current state of the real world. Marvel hasn't confirmed Brolin for Avengers: Doomsday, so this shouldn't be read as an actual confirmation, but it's genuinely notable that he didn't shut the idea down either.
Honestly, I could see Thanos coming back specifically for Secret Wars, and there's already a popular fan theory floating around about recreating the comic book panel where Doctor Doom rips Thanos's spine straight out of his body. Maybe a little more PG-13 than that, though.
