BigBadBiologists BigBadBench | Will replacing a chip get our Mac Quadra 610 to 40MHz? And finishing Tech Ambrosia's Centris 610! @BigBadBench | Uploaded June 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
I previously attempted to get my Quadra 610 running at 40MHz. What I didn't realize is that the 68040 has parts of it that run at twice the processor speed. I think I found out that the clock generator chip might be the issue because it needs to generate 80MHz. The normal clock generator in the Quadra 610 is verified for 50MHz, so I'm replacing it with one that should do 80MHz.

Also, we'll finally finish Tech Ambrosia's Centris 610 by giving the ethernet chip its own clock and doing some mods on her board to facilitate her own overclocking adventures!
