Forced changes to our YouTube channel --
Many of you have noticed that notifications (the way subscribers are informed of new uploads) have been disabled on family channels, videos featuring content made for kids, and those channels / videos featuring adults that used to be kids. This comes after moderated comments were previously disabled to keep positive feedback from reaching children, and to help protect YouTube’s wallet. All of these efforts to rid the YouTube platform of family content (except for a handful of new or existing channels created or supported by the suits at YouTube HQ) will come to a head on January 1, 2020. At that time additional restrictions will be implemented on “all” family channels making it nearly impossible to sustain, build, promote, or monetize content. With that said, please keep in mind that YouTube is famous for changing their policies weekly and without warning, so further changes / corrections / updates should be expected.
As we enter our 10th year of production it has become apparent that YouTube is not the policy-consistent, quality-focused, creatively-inspiring, creator-driven, youth-friendly host that AiW can be primarily associated with in 2020.
