Meet Doreen Alvez, the Wildfire County Coordinator for Tulare County. š
Since 2021, #WildfireCountyCoordinators, powered by a partnership between @cafiresafecouncil and CAL FIRE, have been increasing community wildfire resilience by planning and advancing prevention, preparedness, mitigation, and recovery projects.
Through the Wildfire County Coordinator program, Doreen is helping bring together partners, tools, and resources to support wildfire preparedness across her community.
Sheās worked closely with CAL FIRE to share trusted information on defensible space, home hardening, and Firewise principlesāmaking it easier for residents to take action and better protect their homes. š„š„
That collaboration also shows up in local outreach. At a recent community event, Doreen partnered with a CAL FIRE defensible space inspector to connect directly with residents and provide practical, on-the-ground guidance.
Looking ahead, sheās continuing this work by helping develop a project tracking dashboard through the programābringing greater visibility to wildfire mitigation efforts across the landscape and supporting more coordinated, effective planning. š
