Danny Wilde is a genuine, bone fide Elvis impersonator and musician - famous in sunny Scarborough. "Danny Wilde, Superstar, Sings like Elvis in the Nelson Bar," "We love you Danny, we do," "Sea-side Danny Wilde, say Seaside Danny Wilde".
The guy is so modest, he commands a two-minute rendition - of his own name! A classic night out!

The Early Years
I was born and grew up in Rochdale. At an early age I was given a guitar for Christmas and I got busy right away trying to learn a chord or two, as even then I loved all kinds of music.
My friends and I formed our own band at school- and with Rock 'n' Roll going strong at that time, without even knowing it, I was heading for my destiny.
The Ramblers
As the years went by I lost contact with my school chums, but in their wake I found excitement in three musicians who were willing to form another group -- The Ramblers.
We travelled the length and bredth of England -- me, John, Linda and Sox . They were good times! We went our separate ways all too soon. Sox went into law, Linda left her piano and diplomas behind and john joined Classical Gas -which for me meant look again or go it alone. I chose the latter ...
The Folk Years
My next venture was about to bring rewards of a different kind. I was kept busy doing folk songs Bob Dylan style, (as folk music was popular at the time), when I found a good PR. In no time I was working alongside Freddie Starr and got a slot on the Billy Fury show. At this time I also worked with Sandy Shaw, Crispian St.Peters and a cover band called Sounds Incorporated who really rocked! This was really treading the boards and I enjoyed learning more about the business.
Isle of Man
A duo came next when I teamed up with a bass player. We hit it off as a Boy Girl duo and played a summer season in the Isle of Man, doing night clubs, dance halls etc. We really did some good harmony songs but my heart was in Rock 'n' Roll and though I liked to imitate different voices, audiences would ask me night after night to sign the songs of Elvis Presley.
The North East
Phone calls came from all sides - from the press, from agents and different venues- but going solo again I headed for the North East, staying at Elsie Ladlers pro digs, in Norton village. I made friends with The Merseybeats and a fabulous band called Drifting Harmony.
Doing seven nights and Sunday lunch every week was hard going but there was so much work around I could have stayed indefinitely. I had some wonderful times in clubland with the stars, from Stockton to Blyth and South Shields to Hexham. I was lit up like Eric Delany's timpani- to me he was a superstar, who's now working in climates as hot as his timpani beaters!
Foo Foo Lamar's
Two years passed by like lightening and one night while working in Foo Foo Lamar's Night club back in Manchester, I couldn't believe my eyes when the drummer looked just like Elvis Presley -- I have since heard he was working in America as Elvis' double. Still, that spurred me on to sing more songs of the The King.
Scarborough
A phone call from a Yorkshire agency had me on my way to Scarborough for a one night gig. Upon my arrival at the venue, I was told in no uncertain terms to do or die -- all these years on and I'm still doing!
