There are eight different opening FMVs on the PS2 DVD. They all differ slightly and change depending on how far you are in the game. One has an instrumental music track, five have english lyrics but slightly different animations and two are with japanese lyrics. At least i think it's japanese.
I chose the second one with the english vocals.
I extracted the video from the US PS2 Disc. It was a 640x448 mpeg2 file at 30 fps. After converting the whole video to still images i was left with 3060 images.
Next i upscaled all 3060 images with waifu2x-caffe with very heavy noise reduction to get rid of the compression artifacts.
After this was done i converted the images back to video, cropped the black bars on the top and the bottom and sharpened it a bit.
It's not perfect because many fine details in smaller areas of the image got lost but it's the best i could do so i hope you like it.
