Hello everyone! Here's the first part of my final project from school last quarter--a performance of the three-song cycle I wrote over the course of my program, "Paris Muse." You can expect the next two songs to post right on schedule! Every other Friday, 1:30 PM PST. (This one SHOULD have posted on time but I messed up the scheduling. Whoops)
This particular song was inspired by the mythic figure of Ariadne, sister to (and betrayer of) the minotaur, occasional wife of Dionysus, and victim of an incredible variety of deaths (depending on what version of her myth you're reading).
The whole song cycle explores responding to portrayal in fiction--struggling with it, rewriting it, refusing to come to terms with it--particularly concerning that of women in Greek myth and queer people in modern day fiction. I know it sounds kind of dense and intellectual, haha, but I hope you'll be able to enjoy it nonetheless!
