Go behind-the-scenes with stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and director Jon M. Chu as they take us through the setup for the upcoming epic conclusion of the adaptation of one of the most popular and longest-running musicals on the stage - the final chapter, 'Wicked: For Good' coming to theaters November 21.
In the film, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), now demonized as The Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile, hidden within the Ozian forest while continuing her fight for the freedom of Oz’s silenced Animals and desperately trying to expose the truth she knows about The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).
Glinda (Ariana Grande), meanwhile, has become the glamorous symbol of Goodness for all of Oz, living at the palace in Emerald City and reveling in the perks of fame and popularity. Under the instruction of Madame Morrible (Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh), Glinda is deployed to serve as an effervescent comfort to Oz, reassuring the masses that all is well under the rule of The Wizard.
Back again are Erivo, and Grammy-winning recording artist Ariana Grande as Glinda, as well as Yeoh; Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Fellow Travelers) as Fiyero; Tony nominee Ethan Slater (Broadway’s Spongebob Squarepants, Fosse/Verdon) as Boq; Marissa Bode as Nessarose; and the iconic Jeff Goldblum as the legendary Wizard of Oz.
The cast of characters also includes Pfannee and ShenShen, two conniving compatriots of Glinda, played by Emmy nominee Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) and Bronwyn James (Harlots), and BAFTA and Grammy nominee Sharon D. Clarke (Caroline, or Change) as the voice of Elphaba’s childhood nanny, Dulcibear.
Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights) again directs. Marc Platt (La La Land, The Little Mermaid) and David Stone (Kimberly Akimbo, Next to Normal) produce, with David Nicksay, Stephen Schwartz, and Jared LeBoff as executive producers. The film is adapted for the screen by Winnie Holzman and Grammy and Oscar-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Universal Stage Productions, Marc Platt, the Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone produce the Broadway stage musical.
