There is a great danger in adopting the secular world's terminology to judge the church of Jesus Christ. What the culture calls spiritual abuse is often nothing more than normal, biblical church discipline. God has entrusted the care of souls to qualified elders who mediate the authority of Christ. These men are not perfect, and when situations arise, the congregation must not respond with viciousness, but with a spirit of humility, supporting the shepherds God has placed over them in truth.
