Why do Latter-day Saints (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, erroneously called "Mormons") believe that biblical, Christian baptisms are not valid? Why do they insist that you be baptized into their restored Church? Do they think they are special and you are not? Why is "Priesthood Authority" necessary? Before a week ago, I might not have been able to answer that question very clearly, but with a better understanding of what the ordinances of the restored gospel are actually doing, I can now explain why Priesthood Authority is necessary.
