Hi everyone,
Interesting topic here today. I'm using The Row Margaux/Marlo/Agnes as the examples here, but it applies to all trendy bags/items out there.
There were several people who have mentioned that they were upset they missed out on the newer release bags from The Row, which made me want to chat about this topic on my channel.
These bags that are trendy now (or once was super popular, like the Margaux), they are all coming back around in the pre-loved/second hand market, and usually below retail. In the case for Agnes, they are already available in the pre-loved market, and they from this past release (which was only a few months ago). So clearly although they were hard to get and sold out, they are already becoming available in the pre-loved market.
What this is telling me is that people are on the high of chasing what's not easily available. This is a huge reason why the Hermes Birkins/Kellys have become so popular in the recent years. Few people want them for the quality, more and more people are on the hunt for them because of the scarcity.
In this case, for the bags from The Row, they all eventually end up in the second hand market. It may take some time for you to get the color/condition/price point you want, but it's becoming easier for you to find what you want from the preloved market.
I would like to know what your thoughts are on this topic. Are you team "get it as soon as it's released"? Or are you team "let's wait and see if I still like it in a few months and find it on the pre-loved market"?
