My dad found a Canebrake Rattlesnake (also called Timber Rattlesnake in some regions) right next to his old shed and chicken coop. Instead of killing it, we safely captured and relocated it to better habitat on the property.
In this video I explain why killing snakes actually creates more problems (rodents, ticks, disease) and show exactly how we handle venomous snakes responsibly.
Why snakes are beneficial:
• Natural rodent control
• Help reduce tick populations
• Maintain ecosystem balance
Relocation steps shown:
• Safe capture with bucket
• Transport to suitable habitat (creek + bay swamp area)
• Proper release near cover and bamboo (their preferred area)
Always give snakes space and respect. If you're unsure, call a professional remover. Never attempt this unless you’re experienced and properly equipped.
