What is a polyrhythm and why should you use them? I always thought a polyrhythm was when two different time signatures, on two different instruments are played simultaneously, but actually this is a polymeter, and polymeters are a very powerful technique when writing music. In today's video I explore various methods to utilize polymeter's in our compositions using modular synthesizers and drum machines. I explore Pamela's Pro Workout, the Oxi One sequencer, the Drumbrute Impact, and many more eurorack modules. Finally, I took a quick look at Euclidean rhythms which is another great way to implement polymeters into our compositions.
