What’s the brutally honest #psychology of a white knight?

This commonly refers to a man who is attracted to a woman he believes he can save from a bad life situation, such as in the movie #PrettyWoman.

1. Men sometimes have savior complex where their self-esteem is boosted with that sense of purpose.
2. Insecurity because he may feel that they are not enough but need to do something extraordinary for a woman to love him.
3. Empathy imbalance where he may take her problems as his own.
4. Control obsession to possibly want to feel that he can exert power and dominance over her life.
5. Unresolved emotional issues, where there may be a past trauma, so he seeks to right the past by using her.

As much as it may initially come across as sweet that he is attempting to help her so much, it’s usually fruitless and may easily result in resentment, where she may understandably feel that he does not love her for her, but who he believes he can change her into.
