Why do we take men more seriously than girls, even when they say the same things? Last week, a short video by 16-year old Gracie Cunningham went viral after it was described by one Twitter user as "the dumbest video I've ever seen". But her words sounded very different when spoken by a British man in his thirties instead. Math isn't real. Sociolinguistics are.
