In this presentation, given on May 8, 2021 at the CFIC virtual Spring Conference, Andy Thomson, MD, employs the science of faith in describing how and why the human mind generates religious belief. Dr. Thomson is a practising psychiatrist in the United States and sits on the board of CFI (US). Dr. Thomson has published on the subject of evolutionary psychology and using its principles to understand depression, suicide terrorism, and religious belief. He co-authored Why We Believe in God(s): A Concise Guide to the Science of Faith.
