When it comes to solar energy systems, choosing the right electrical components is crucial, not only for safety but for efficiency too. One of the key components in these systems is the electrical fuse. In particular, there’s a debate between using gPV fuses, which are specifically designed for photovoltaic (PV) applications, and gG fuses, which are more commonly used in general electrical applications. While gPV fuses may be 3 to 4 times more expensive than gG fuses, opting for the right fuse can prevent serious safety hazards, including the risk of fire – as can be seen later in the video. So, one should ask themselves, is cheaping out really worth the risk?
