Despite 8 million people being murdered, and untold numbers of woman and children raped and torture since 1997. The UK, US, and EU governments continue to support the Congolese Prime Mister Joseph Kabila. The BBC has shamefully failed to give any real coverage over the last 15 years, or to report any of the ongoing genocide and atrocities in the failed state of Congo.
Protesters continue to protesting throughout December 2011 including: outside Downing Street, the BBC and Apple HQ on Regent Street, London. Almost 200 protesters have already been arrested in London so far.
Huge multi-national corporations like Apple, Nokia, Samsung and many others and their mining partners, continued to exploit the political and humanitarian crises in the area in their race for Congo's precious minerals and resources - especially coltan.
Coltan is almost as heavy as lead, and is used as a semi-conductor in all modern electronic devices. It has a world market price of up to $600/kg. Congolese (often children) mine by hand in treacherous hand dug tunnels and get about $5/kg for risking their lives.
