The story of XCOR aerospace and the record setting rocket powered planes they built. XCOR started with rocket engines on small experimental aircraft and then wanted to build a rocket plane which could go to space. They had big plans, but in the end ran out of money. But not before Axe had a competition with the prizes being the chance to go to space, as far as I know, none of the winners has made it to space.
