This old mine dump in the Lost Basin Mining District, Arizona has been sitting untouched since the 1930s — and it's still loaded with gold. In this video, we team up with Mike Pung, inventor of the Gold Cube, to test-run material from the legendary King Tut Mine using his new Gyro Gold centrifugal separator — a machine built to catch the ultra-fine gold that sluice boxes and other equipment miss.

We break down the geology of the area: the detachment fault that hosted the original quartz veins, the Muddy Creek Formation that redistributed gold-bearing red clay, and the surface indicators (trumpet plants, caliche, pseudomorphed pyrite cubes) that old-timers used to find gold-bearing ground. Then we run a single yard of tailings through the Gyro Gold and see exactly what the 1930s-era miners left behind.
