Art has nothing to do with realism. The Goal of art is to capture the essence of something, we call 'Rasa'. Evoke a specific mood or sentiment in the viewer's brain. How you go from the object, from the external world to the brain and evoke Rasa. Dr Ramachandran says that Rasa Evokes god knows where, but using the brain as a vehicle to resonate to this attribute, Rasa. The Natraj in Chola Bronze shows how the Creation and destruction balance each other out.
