The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross splits the difference between SUVs that are more car-like and the ever-growing modern mid-size SUV. Where SUVs seem to be getting more gargantuan every year, Toyota brings its successful Asian crossover state side.
Propelled by the venerable 2.0L four popper making 169hp and mated to a CVT transmission, it won't be lighting up dragstrips anytime soon. But it does come with AWD available on every trim package from the afforable base L, to the fully loade XLE. While technically part of the Corolla family, the exterior evokes strong RAV4 vibes while the interior is more car-like. Unlike the Corolla, there is finally a very usable hatch area with the seats up. When the the second row is folded, there is more than enough cargo capacity for outdoor weekend getaways, or some light furniture hauling.
