"There are times when you just kind of have to be in support of the health of the broader industry. And as they say, 'Never let a crisis go to waste'. Always find an opportunity to create a new path.
And I think that in crypto, we have a strong tradition of individual responsibility. If you get hacked, 'Not your keys, not your crypto', bearer instruments, so on and so forth. A little bit of tough love, which I think has a healthy aspect to it.
But at the same time, you need to preserve the integrity of the community and preserve the confidence of the community. And there's an aspect of crypto which is very much about sort of community buy-in...
So yes, Aave is, you could say in many ways, a competitor. Sometimes we drive at one another. But first of all, I think it was just really the right thing to do."
