For an extended period, Apple had been numbering its base-model iPad with a generation number, except for the 10th generation iPad, which was equipped with an A14 chip. Subsequently, the next version abandoned the numbering system altogether, simply branding it as the iPad (A16). This approach clearly communicates the performance to consumers, yet the base iPad has consistently faced a naming dilemma.
