Lower back pain is the most common injury reported by golfers at every level of the game. But in many cases the lower back is not the true source of the problem.

At TPI we often say the lower back is the victim, not the culprit.

The lumbar spine is designed primarily for stability, not rotation. When golfers lack mobility in areas like the hips or thoracic spine, the body often finds another way to complete the swing. The lower back frequently ends up absorbing that extra motion and stress.

In this video we break down some of the most common physical limitations and swing characteristics that contribute to lower back pain in golfers, and why evaluating the entire movement system is essential.

Understanding where the stress is really coming from is the first step toward helping golfers move better, swing more efficiently, and stay healthy.
