The End of Oak Street might be the best dinosaur movie since the original Jurassic Park.
What makes it work isn't trying to be bigger, more complicated, or more important. Instead, the movie keeps things surprisingly simple, focusing on one family trying to survive rather than worrying about how dinosaurs would change the entire world.
I also found the movie's sincerity surprisingly refreshing, especially in the way it approaches its exaggerated 1980s setting and its classic nuclear-family dynamic.
