The C-390 Millennium is Embraer’s twin-engine jet transport. It’s designed to do the same job as the legendary C-130 Hercules… but faster, with more payload, and lower operating costs. We’re talking about 26 tonnes of cargo, cruising at around 870 kilometers per hour.
That’s significantly quicker than the turboprop C-130J. And according to Embraer, it costs about 30% less to operate per mission.So far, the results are impressive. As of mid-2026, Embraer has locked in more than 60 firm orders and selections, plus another 29 options.
Countries like Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, South Korea, the UAE, Greece, the Czech Republic, and even Uzbekistan have all chosen the C-390. Colombia just joined the list too.And it’s not just about orders.
The aircraft already in service are performing extremely well — over 93% mission-capable rate and nearly perfect mission completion rates. That’s the kind of reliability that gets attention.
Embraer believes there’s a market for around 450 aircraft in this class over the next 20 years. Why? Because there are more than 230 aging C-130s and similar planes that are over 45 years old and desperately need replacing.
And in the export market over the last few years, the C-390 has actually been outselling both the C-130J and the much bigger Airbus A400M.
