If you look at GDP per Capita, Taiwan loses to Japan and South Korea. If you look at Average Wages, Taiwan looks stuck in the 1990s. But if you look at Median Wealth per Adult (the net worth of the guy in the exact middle), Taiwan is unexpectedly #1 or #2 in Asia, often beating Japan and South Korea.
